Sycamore Park is a young neighborhood that sits in between Miller Avenue and East Blithedale in Mill Valley. With an amazing central location, it is the perfect neighborhood for a young Marin family to settle down and immerse themselves in Marin living. Mill Valley is a host to many schools, restaurants, and parks that are perfect for all audiences and interests.
Restaurants
Watershed is an amazing new restaurant in the old mill valley lumber yard for an amazing pizza or salad. The area has now been turned into a cute shopping area with a coffee shop and a handful of small boutiques. Sol Food is an amazing Puerto Rican take-out spot located just off Miller Avenue with an authentic and famous taste. Enjoy anything from a massive bistec sandwich to their classic polo al Horno (make sure to ask for their pink mayo!) Tamalpie makes some of the best pizza in mill valley and it is an amazing spot for family dinners. They are best known for their seasonal, organic, and local ingredients as well as cozy indoor and outdoor seating.
Schools
Sycamore park is a safe walking distance from many schooling opportunities for all ages. Park School or Marin Horizon are excellent elementary schools that are great depending on what you are looking for. Marin Horizon is private and much smaller and amazing for a more one on one style of learning whereas Park School is an amazing public school that is located on the East Blithedale side of the neighborhood. Mill Valley Middle School is located on the marsh just outside of the neighborhood and is an amazing place to prepare for the next steps of high school. It offers a wide variety of clubs and sports as well as many academic opportunities to match any kid's educational needs. Tamalpais High School is the main public high school for the Mill Valley school district. Tam is known for its amazing sports and academic opportunities. As a bonus, it's an easy walking distance from many amazing lunch spots.
Parks
The main park in the area is Boyle park and it has everything you could need. There are multiple tennis courts that also often offer camps for all ages, especially throughout the summer. On the backside of the park, there is a huge open field where youth recreational soccer teams play as well as plenty of other sporting equipment to fill any of your interests. In addition to the playground, a large picnic area is a great option for family get-togethers and summer hangouts. Sycamore Park is also a great option for something a little bit closer and a little bit more secluded. It is still a beautiful park but it tends to be visited by mainly people from the surrounding neighborhood which makes for a great environment to meet new people and friends.
